This school based programme targeted Primary 7 classes at schools throughout Northern Ireland and ran from April - June 2009. Schools were provided with resources and information which enabled them to grow their own biodiversity gardens from seed as part of their class, observe the different insects that visit their garden, monitor and record information.
This programme looked in particular at the biodiversity of insects in Northern Ireland, tying in with research taking place at School of Biological Sciences at Queen's University Belfast.
Teachers lesson plans were developed as part of this programme as well as a classroom activity pack which you can download here.
These lesson plans ran alongside pupil resources which were accessed via LearningNI. If you would like to view the pupils resources or require more information on this programme, please contact our Education Department on 028 9046 7799/7797/7836.
