    W5 Late Floor Guide
    Joining us for W5 Late on 16 February? Check out what's going on...

    W5 Late is a strictly adults-only, after-hours evening at Northern Ireland’s award-winning science and discovery centre from 7-11pm on Saturday 16 February. With the opening of our BRAND-NEW medical exhibition area ‘MED-Lab’, we’re celebrating all things health, happiness and well-being at this W5 Late!

    W5 Late ticket holders - we have put together an event itinerary by floor so you don’t miss any of the awesome activities, talks and shows that we have planned for you!

    Ground Floor

    W5 Shop & LEGO® Zone, 7-11pm – Explore our brand-new gift shop!

    VR Zone, 7-11pm – Take an adventure like no other in our brand-new Virtual Reality Zone. (This is an add-on experience & costs between £3-£5 per player, per game).

    Event Heroes Costumed Doctors, Meet & Greet, 7-8pm - As we celebrate all things health at this W5 Late, you’ll be greeted by a doctor or two who might diagnose you!

    Level 1

    Bar, 7-10.30pm – Grab a cold drink at our licensed bar.

    W5 Coffee Shop, 7-10.30pm – Enjoy some soft-drinks and food in our coffee shop.

    MED-Lab, 7-11pm - Explore our brand-new exhibition area ‘MED-Lab’ and discover the medical marvel that is the human body! Try your hand at our life-sized Operation game and SO much more!

    Throughout the night, don't miss your chance to get a caricature drawing done by 'Seedhead Arts'. 'Seedhead Arts' will be located on Level 1. (Times to be confirmed)

    Level 2

    Climbit & Coffee Dock, 7-10.30pm – Scale the heights on Climbit & grab a coffee at our Coffee Dock.

    Bar, 7-10.30pm – Grab a cold drink at our licensed bar.

    Exhibition Floors, 7-11pm – Explore over 250 interactive exhibits.

    Live Demonstration Shows:

    In Your FaceFloor Show, 7.30 & 8.30pm - Whether you’re riding a bike, running a marathon or just eating your lunch – your body can do some incredible things! But are the day to day activities we do as simple as we think? Join us for a closer look at what goes on to power the inner workings of the most amazing machine ever created – you!

    Let’s Get Quizzical, 9.30pm - Do you know your tibia from your fibula? Or can you tell the difference between villi and ventricles? Join us for an interactive quiz about our body and see if you can make it to the top of the leader board and claim the prize!

    ‘Optimum Fitness’ and Sports Massage Demonstration - We’ve all gone to the gym and been in pain and ache for days after. In this live demonstration, join Optimum Fitness as they explain the incredible benefits of getting a sports massage and get your muscles back to feeling good!

    Information Stands - We’ve even got some information stands from leading health organisations including: Bowel Cancer UK, Friends of the Cancer Centre, Move More Programme, RNIB, Positive Life NI and NI Blood Transfusion.

    Throughout the night, don't miss your chance to take an exciting brainwave test! Our Education team will be walking Level 2 with their brain-wave monitor!

    Level 3

    DJ, 7-11pm – Enjoy some music!

    Disability Sport NI - The guys from 'Disability Sport NI' are on hand to talk about sports & active recreation opportunities for people with disabilities! You can even have a go at 'Boccia'!

    Level 4

    Exhibition Floors, 7-11pm – Explore over 250 interactive exhibits.

    Bar, 7-10.30pm – Grab a cold drink at our licensed bar.

    Gaia, 7-11pm - Relax in front of the mesmerising ‘Gaia’, an amazing, new touring artwork by UK artist Luke Jerram. This artwork provides the opportunity to see planet Earth like never before!

    See/Do Demonstration Area:

    Join author of the popular 'Vital Nutrition' and 'The Vital Nutrition Cookbook', Jane McClenaghan as she shares her tips and tricks on nutrition, health and well-being!

    Power Up Your Diet, 7.30-8pm - 10 energising foods to add to your breakfast bowl, lunchbox or dinner plate. Discover what nutritionist Jane McClenaghan has in her shopping basket to help energise your body, fuel your brain and nourish your mind.

    Power Balls, 8.15 - 8.45pm - Make your own yummy power balls! Vital Nutrition’s Jane McClenaghan has a shopping basket packed with superfoods and store cupboard essentials to power up your energy. Create your very own bespoke power ball recipe using some every day superfoods and some more unusual ingredients.

    Level 5

    Mezzanine Level 5: ‘Shrink Fitness’ & Pilates Demonstration with Estelle Wallace - We all want to eat better and exercise more, but our busy lives seem to always get in the way! Join fitness coach, Estelle Wallace as she explains the simple ways to get fit and healthy within the walls of our own home. Get fit, have fun and feel good! You can even take part in some Pilates!

    Level 5 Seminar Rooms: 'The Art & Design Factory', Art Classes: Grab a paint brush, relax and try your hand at some theraptic art from 'The Art & Design Factory'!

    Lecture Theatre Talks:

    -Thirty Years of Genetics with a View to our Future’ with Dr. Gareth McKay, 7.45pm - Designer babies, GM foods and cloned sheep – genetics has a way of grabbing the headlines but in this talk the lid is lifted on this most controversial field of science to learn more about the power of the gene and how it promises to revolutionise medicine and affect all our futures in the most incredible and challenging of ways.

    -‘The Marvel of Medicine' with Professor Barry Kelly, 8.30pm - During the last 70 years, medicine and healthcare have changed dramatically. Join Professor Barry Kelly as he explores how film, TV, music and art have reflected our changing expectations on the marvel that is medicine! In the past doctors knew best but with artificial intelligence leading the future, will this alter all that we know?

    -‘Feel Good Hypnosis’ with Turan Mirza, 9.15pm - Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be hypnotised? Well, here’s your chance. From all across the UK to even America, hypnotist Turan Mirza has helped people experience the incredible feel-good effects that hypnosis can provide. In this captivating talk, join Turan as he provides a live presentation of hypnosis in action and explains how hypnosis influences us in everyday life! So, sit back, relax and get ready to access your unconscious mind!

    -‘The Science of Love’ with Emer Maguire, 10pm - Kissing. Flirting. Love. These are some of most fascinating aspects of human life. But what separates the Romeos from the Tinder turn offs? Do we have scientific soulmates? And are looks really that important? Society tells us romance is responsible for relationships. The truth is, it’s all down to science; a captivating cocktail of chemistry, genetics, biology and evolution. Join Emer Maguire, international award-winning science communicator and BBC radio presenter, as she guides us through the science of love. Warning: May contain scientifically accurate musical comedy.

    W5 Late - Event Information

    • This is an 18+ event, therefore ID is required.
    • The bars onsite will be cash only. There are cash machines located at the front of the Odyssey Complex.
    • All bags will be searched before entering W5. We will not allow backpacks or large bags into the venue, but we do allow small bags/handbags. We class small bags no larger than A3 size.
    • Antisocial or disruptive behaviour will not be tolerated. This behaviour may result in you being asked to leave the building or being ejected without return.
    • Smoking / vaping is not permitted anywhere in the building.
    • No food or drink is permitted to be brought into the venue. Food and drink purchased in W5 is not permitted on the exhibition floors.
    • Visitors are not permitted to enter areas that are cordoned off, or marked as staff only.
    • Please use public transport, or car share where possible as the car park will be busy. Please avail of our car park prepay options to avoid the queues after the event.

    Please note, Spacebase will not be open for W5 Late. Suitable shoes must be worn on Climbit.
