    STEM Hub
    Ambassadors

W5 coordinates the STEM Ambassador Hub in Northern Ireland, ensuring all schools have knowledge of and access to STEM Ambassadors in their area.

We link ambassadors with local schools so they can act as positive role models and help inspire and engage young people about the value of STEM in their daily lives.

STEM Ambassadors can support local schools in a number of ways:

    • Supporting careers events
    • Delivering a hands-on, practical STEM project with pupils
    • Supporting Interview Skills Days
    • Being interviewed over Skype as part of a school lesson
    • Taking part in a Teacher/Ambassador networking event at a school
    • Facilitating work place visits

How to register as a STEM Ambassador?

    • Register as a STEM Ambassador.  Visit www.stemnet.org.uk. On the top right hand side click to register. Complete the application form and submit.
    • Complete an online enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service application.  This is required for all STEM Ambassadors as you will be coming into contact with school children through your volunteering activities.
    • You must then complete our 2 hour STEM Ambassador Induction Training Programme.
    • During this induction programme, we will check and verify your ID as part of your DBS application.
    • Once your DBS has been processed, you will receive a certificate in the post to your registered address and we will also be notified.

Activitiescan include those organised through STEM Ambassador Programme, your employer or professional body.

    • Student work experience / work shadowing
    • Hosting a Nuffield Bursary Placement
    • Assisting with Interview Skills Days
    • Delivering STEM Subject Talks, Careers Talks or Assembly Talks
    • Facilitating a practical STEM demonstration or activity
    • Acting as a STEM mentor for a team of pupils entering a regional or national competition
    • Returning to your old school as a positive STEM role model
    • Supporting a STEM themed after school club in your area (STEM Club Activity)

Contact Julia Carson on 028 9046 7722 or email juliacarson@w5online.co.uk and we can change you details on the database system.
