Micro:bit FUNdamentals

Date: Tuesday 20 August
Time: 10:30am-12:30pm

A beginner’s guide to using the micro:bit in the classroom for those who have no experience. During this session, we will cover everything you need to know to get started. Discover what the micro:bit is and what it can do, create your first simple coding project, and learn how to transfer and interact with your code.

Micro:bit's and Pieces

Date: Tuesday 20 August

Join us as we demonstrate how you can use the micro:bit to create lessons and projects. We will walk through building some different projects involving different coding principles which you can lift straight into your classroom. Previous experience with micro:bit would be beneficial.

Effective Use of ActivInspire (Promethean Board)

Experience ActivInspire: Think you know ActivInspire? Think again! Stuart Montgomery (Education Consultant for Promethean) will take you through all the tips, tricks and secrets of ActivInspire in this quick-fire training session.

See how ActivInspire can make lessons more engaging, less time-consuming to plan and more enjoyable for both students and teachers alike. Each attendee will also be given free access to Stuart’s archive of ActivInspire pre-made/editable lessons and activities, so you’ll be able to get started right away.

Minecraft Education for Beginners

This session will be an introduction for beginners and new users of Minecraft Education. Find out what makes it different from the regular Minecraft, why you would want to use it in the classroom and some of the features designed to aid your lessons. Minecraft Education for Collaboration and Assessment

Date: Wednesday 21 August
Time: 1pm-2:30pm

Discover some of the ways in which Minecraft Education can be used to promote collaboration and teamwork in your classroom. Learn how to create lessons and use the in-built tools for assessment. This session is suitable for those who have had some previous experience in Minecraft, but you don’t need to be an expert. Linked to Using ICT curriculum.

Computational Thinking

If you are a teacher of KS2-KS3 and want to learn how to encourage computational thinking in your school, join the Dream Space team for this training event. Delve into the wonders of computational thinking and how to inspire your students to ‘think like a coder’. MakeCode Arcade for Beginners
