Minecraft Education is our canvas, and thriving on the moon is our goal! We are challenging teams of 4-6 pupils, from Primary 6 to Year 10 students and 5th Class to Second Year, to create and build a habitat on the moon this academic year for the chance to come along to our LIVE eSports final in Dream Space W5 LIFE.

On 2nd October 2023, the eSports competition brief will be released and teams can get together to create their submission.

The top 8 teams will then be invited to compete in our live eSports competition within Dream Space at W5 LIFE on Friday 23 February 2024 - competing against other teams to be crowned Minecraft Education master!

Our Minecraft Education experts at W5 LIFE will be guiding you through every aspect of the competition. From getting started on Minecraft Education, to your practice session and your build. Educators’ guidance will be provided for every step.

How to Take Part and Important Dates

Step 1Join Welcome Meeting

Date: Monday 6 November
Time: 3:30pm-4:30pm

Join our virtual welcome meeting on Monday 6th November where we will outline the competition and answer any questions you have. We will then share with you the resources which covers everything from:

  • Logging into Minecraft Education
  • Exploring Minecraft Education worlds
  • Planning and collaborating on a world
  • The competition brief, rubric and submission
  • The competition day

Step 2 – Attend Minecraft Education teacher training (optional)

Date: 16 November 2023

Attend our expert-led teacher training on how to navigate and use Minecraft Education to its full potential in your classroom.

Step 3 – Build and submit your entry

Deadline: 5pm on Friday 19 January 2024

Work together, in teams of 4-6 students, under competition rules to plan and build your submission. Use the guidebooks to help you create your entry and make sure to do your research!

Submit your entry before the deadline on Friday 19 January 2024.

Step 4 – The eSports Final

Date: Friday 23rd February 2024

Our team of Minecraft Education experts will judge your submission and select the 8 finalists. The finalists will take part in a live build where they will replicate their sustainable world and pitch it to our panel of judges.
