Dream Space at W5 LIFE is looking for a community group to take part in a FREE summer camp for 8-12 year olds.

If you wish to be considered for this summer camp, please register your interest before Friday 24th May.

Some of the activities include:

  • Arts and crafts to build sculptures.
  • Coding with minicomputers, known as a micro:bit.
  • Creating an arcade game with Makecode Arcade.
  • Programming a robot, known as a Sphero.
  • Exploring and building in Minecraft Education.
  • And more!

Dates and Times

  • Tuesday 2 July: 10am – 2pm.
  • Wednesday 3 July: 10am – 2pm.
  • Thursday 4 July: 10am – 2pm.
  • Friday 5 July: 10am – 2pm.
  • Tuesday 16 July: 10am - 2pm.
  • Wednesday 17 July: 10am - 2pm.
  • Thursday 18 July: 10am - 2pm.
  • Friday 19 July: 10am - 2pm.

Each day consists of:

  • A hands-on crafting activity.
  • An element of coding.
  • A team build within Minecraft Education.

Themes

  • Tuesday’s theme is Sports:

Get hands-on to build a mini golf course and code a mini robotic Sphero. Then work in teams to build a sports stadium within Minecraft Education.

  • Wednesday’s theme is Animal Kingdom:

Craft an animal and bring it to life by coding a mini computer. Then work in teams to build a zoo within Minecraft Education.

  • Thursday’s theme is Cities and Buildings:

Build a mini tower and bring it to life by coding a mini computer. Then work in teams to build a city within Minecraft Education.

  • Friday’s theme is Ocean Discovery:

Construct a boat and storyboard a game before coding it. Then work in teams to build a boat within Minecraft Education.

Please note that you do not have to attend all 4 days per week.

Further Details

  • We require a minimum of 8 and maximum of 24 participants per group.
  • The leaders of your community group must attend to supervise but all content will be delivered by the Dream Space team. We require a minimum of 1 adult to 8 children.
  • All participants must bring a packed lunch each day.
  • Please arrange your own transportation to Dream Space at W5 LIFE located in Odyssey Place (2 Queens Quay, Belfast, BT3 9QQ).
  • The camp does not include admission to W5.
