FIRST® LEGO® League Explore is a non-competitive, hands-on robotics-based STEM and life skills programme aimed at children aged 6 to 9. Each year, FIRST® LEGO® LeagueExplore presents a new and exciting challenge to ignite creativity and help children enjoy learning STEM subjects.
The programme’s aim is to build confidence in young children, and spark a desire to continue studying STEM subjects, whilst also providing them with invaluable life skills such as teamwork, problem-solving and communication. One of the most important things is to make it incredibly FUN for them! If they are enjoying themselves, they will want to continue coding and learning STEM subjects– and with the skills they have gained during FIRST® LEGO® League Explore, who knows what they could achieve in the future!
The Institution of Engineering and Technology is the operational partner for the FIRST® LEGO® League divisions in the UK & Ireland.
Teams consisted of up to six children from each school, who worked together on the three parts of FIRST® LEGO® League Explore.
Teams had a few weeks/months to prepare, before showcasing their learnings at the IET FIRST® LEGO® League Explore Regional Festival at W5.
