Following a major £5million investment last Autumn, W5’s two reimagined exhibition floors and eight interactive zones form the perfect playground for budding explorers with 250+ hands-on exhibits. And this summer, a host of new events and experiences mean there’s even more for all the family to explore.
W5 is teaming up with world-famous, award-winning animation studio Aardman, creators of Wallace & Gromit, Shaun the Sheep and Morph this summer. A range of immersive Shaun the Sheep experiences are coming to Belfast, as W5 celebrates 15 years of the world’s most famous sheep.
The Shaun the Sheep Summer of Celebration kicks off this week with the exclusive launch of a new ‘Hide & Sheep’ Augmented Reality (A.R.) trail experience. Over the next few months, W5 will become a virtual stage for an exciting app based A.R. experience, which invites visitors to find Shaun as they explore W5’s popular interactive zones and exhibits.
W5’s Bright Sparks Summer camp returns in July and August, providing packed week-long programmes of hands-on fun for inquisitive young minds aged 8 to 11. Kids attending Bright Sparks camps will enjoy a range of exciting, science-based activities such as crime labs, rocket races, animation, and building challenges. Each day will have its own theme and young experimenters will be encouraged to explore and learn in a fun and positive environment.
The Bright Sparks Summer Camps runs for five consecutive weeks, beginning Monday 4th July. Places cost £150 per child per week, with a reduction in price for additional children. Places are limited to a maximum of 16 participants per camp, so early booking is advised to avoid disappointment.
W5 Late returns this summer with four fun-filled after-hours events that will give grown-ups the run of the place.
The expanded summer series of W5 Late events kicks off on Thursday 21 July, running on four consecutive Thursdays. With ‘no kids allowed’, adults can explore W5 Reimagined in a child-free environment, picking from a range of quirky themed events: W5 House of Games (21 July); W5 World of Illusion (28 July); Destination Animation (4 August); Music at the Centre (11 August).
