Whatever the weather, W5 has lots to keep young explorers, big kids and everyone in between entertained this mid-term. From optical illusions to TV production and medical science to construction, get ready to step into a world of wonder with over 250 exhibits that entertain and inspire.

1. Walk through the Vortex
Resting at the heart of our Making Sense zone is the mesmerising vortex. Experience your own Space Odyssey moment in the immersive light tunnel that makes the perfect background for family photos and selfies with friends.
2. Dip your Toes in our Virtual Ocean
Whilst a trip to the beach may not be on the cards this February mid-term, why not head to the In our Nature zone on level 4 and dip your toes in our virtual ocean. Surrounded by replica basalt columns inspired by the Giant's Causeway and soundtracked by the crashing of waves, you are sure to be transported to a sunnier time.
3. Climb aboard a Pirate Ship
Step into a living storybook world where family favourites are brought to life in our Over the Hills & Far Away zone. Climb aboard Captain Hook's pirate ship, walk the plank and let your imagination run wild in this fairytale land.
4. Become a News Presenter for the Day
Are you ready for your close-up? Take your place in the hot seat and read the evening bulletins in our state-of-the-art news studio on level 4. Don't forget to watch your TV debut on the big screens after!
5. Marvel at our FREE Daily Science Shows
Enjoy eureka moments this mid-term with free science shows every day. From touching a cloud in our Deep Freeze show to seeing eye-popping experiments in Off With a Bang, get ready to witness some mind-boggling science.
6. Create and Launch Virtual Fireworks
Design and launch your very own fireworks in our electrifying Energise zone. Discover the chemical reactions that take place to create a spectacle in the sky before stepping forward to create your own firework. Which colours will you choose?
