Minecraft Shelter Crafters 1100x620

Could your school be crowned champion of this year’s Dream Space Minecraft Education build competition?

We’re ready to see students across the island of Ireland take on the forces of nature like never before! Don’t miss out on this chance to immerse your students in a high-energy challenge of creativity, innovation, and problem-solving. "Shelter Crafters: Protecting Communities", part of the Microsoft Dream Space Minecraft Education Competition, is set to be an unmissable adventure.

Following the storming success of last year’s SEAcrets of the Deep” challenge in association with Belfast Harbour, which saw schools design incredible ocean-inspired creations, we’re thrilled to unveil the next chapter of our exciting Minecraft Education competitions: Shelter Crafters: Protecting Communities. This year, teams will investigate the impact of natural disasters and use the power of design to create shelters and life-saving solutions that could protect communities when disaster strikes.

Why Enter?

Not only will students unleash their imagination and Minecraft expertise, they’ll also explore real-world issues such as disaster resilience, emergency planning, and community protection. This competition is a fantastic way for schools to engage students in a project that blends technology, creativity, and learning in a powerful way. "Shelter Crafters: Protecting Communities" will challenge young innovators to think critically, problem-solve collaboratively, and build with purpose - all while having fun.

Support for Teachers

We know taking on a national competition can feel daunting, so the Dream Space team will be with you every step of the way. From detailed entry guides to expert Minecraft Education teacher training, everything you need to support your students will be provided. Whether you’re new to Minecraft Education or a seasoned pro, our resources and training sessions are designed to ensure teachers feel confident and ready to lead their teams through the challenge.

Conor McKay, W5 LIFE Centre Manager, about last year’s SEAcrets of the Deep competition, said:
"Judging last year’s entries was inspiring; the level of creativity and teamwork was outstanding. What excites me most about Shelter Crafters: Protecting Communities is that students aren’t just building for the sake of it, they’re designing solutions that could genuinely help people in times of crisis. I can’t wait to see how they tackle such a meaningful challenge this year."

The competition is open to schools across the island of Ireland, for students from Primary 6 to Year 10 in Northern Ireland and 5th Class to 2nd Year in the Republic of Ireland.

The full competition brief and guidelines will be sent to all those who have registered after the initial teacher call on 15th October.
