KS1: Mission ISS

A full day of programming delivered at your school, suitable for up to 65 pupils, including icebreakers and teambuilding activities, as well as a fun team building challenge.

So, are you ready for an out-of-this-world experience in W5’s giant portable planetarium inflatable dome this summer? Take your students on an unforgettable journey through the stars to the International Space Station (ISS) and learn how astronauts survive in space.

Included:

  • 45-minute show inside the portable planetarium dome. The dome can accommodate up to 32 pupils in each show and will require a space which is 7 meters wide and 4.5 meters tall – an assembly hall is ideal.
  • The Space Race Workshop: Discover the ISS and how astronauts work and live together on their special mission. Find out what it takes to put people into space and give your class the opportunity to collaborate on a joint mission, designing and launching their own air-powered rocket. This is a dramatic competition that would put Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk to shame.

Suitable for two classes of up to 65 pupils

Followed by a visit to W5 including an exhibition visit, Climbit and a Dino Detectives workshop.

    Learning Objectives:

    1. To develop collaboration and communication skills by working with peers from different backgrounds, fostering mutual respect, understanding, and teamwork in a shared learning environment.

    2. To learn what astronauts need to survive in space.

    3. To create and launch an air-powered rocket.

Costs: £375+VAT for outreach element in school + £7.50/child for the visit to W5
