    A week long summer camp for ages 8-11!

    Calling all budding scientists! Bright Sparks is W5’s unique and exciting week-long summer camp for inquisitive young minds aged 8 to 11.

    Participants in Bright Sparks will get hands-on in a range of exciting, science-based activities such as crime labs, rocket races, animation and building challenges. Each day will have its own theme and our young experimenters will be encouraged to explore and learn in a fun and positive environment.

    What will it cost?

    The total cost for one week is £125/child(with a £10 reduction for additional children). Following registration, full payment should be made to W5 within one week. Enrolment fees are non-refundable and places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

    What we offer

    • A fun-filled programme of hands-on activities, Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm
    • Exciting and engaging topics covering a wide range of STEM disciplines
    • Opportunities to explore W5, including Climbit and Spacebase
    • Enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and experienced staff
    • Drop-off and pick-up times designed to accommodate working parents (drop off from 8:45am)
    • A free Bright Sparks t-shirt

    Numbers are limited (minimum 8, maximum 16 participants per camp) therefore please book early to avoid disappointment. This year two camps of 16 participants will be operating simultaneously therefore please indicate on your booking form if you have children who wish to be placed together.

    Dates

    Bright Sparks is running 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday on the following dates:

    • Monday 1st July to Friday 5th July (fully booked)
    • Monday 15th July to Friday 19th July
    • Monday 19th August to Friday 23rd August (fully booked)

    Programme

    The programme of activities at the summer camp will be exciting and varied. To give the week a unique structure each day will follow a specific theme. Each day will be jam-packed with exciting activities linked to science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) including workshops, science shows, exhibition visits, construction challenges, coding, animation and much more. The week will also include a special field trip within the local area.

    Throughout the week camp staff will send photos and messages about activities through a downloadable digital portfolio, Seesaw.

    This year again, participants can also achieve a CREST Award, a nationally recognised scheme for STEM project work accredited by the British Science Association.

    Lunch and refreshments

    Children are asked to bring along a morning and afternoon snack and a packed lunch. They can also visit W5’s coffee shop during snack times. The coffee shop serves a daily range of fresh sandwiches, tray-bakes and snacks. Weather permitting, children may be taken outside to eat lunch.
