Neurodiverse Digital Skills for Life and Work

Thanks to continued funding from the Department for the Economy, W5 LIFE is thrilled to partner with Belfast MET to offer a Digital Skills for Life and Work programme tailored for neurodiverse adults aged 18+.

This programme offers a unique learning experience, which will allow participants to be empowered by gaining practical digital skills and earning an OCN NI Level 2 award in Digital Skills for Life and Work. Topics that will be covered include:

  • Word Processing: Advanced editing, formatting, table creation, and graphic insertion using industry-standard software.
  • Spreadsheet Software: Data management, analysis, and visualisation through charts and graphs.
  • Presentation Software: Professional presentation creation with multimedia elements.
  • Email Management: Composing, formatting, and managing emails effectively.
  • Artificial Intelligence (AI): Exploring ethical AI use and leveraging AI tools for problem-solving and prompt generation.
  • Soft Skills: Helping you gain self-confidence in entering or re-entering the world of work. Communication skills, organisation skills, work ethics, body language and more.
  • Cyber skills: An introduction to cyber security. Understanding the main threats to consider, how to spot them and look out for them. How to protect yourself online, and looking at other security techniques.

With support from SPARK, a Northern Ireland-based neuro-inclusion initiative, learners from all areas of the neurodivergent community will receive assistance. This includes, but is not limited to, individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), dyslexia, dyspraxia, Tourette syndrome, and more.

This qualification will support those interested in joining the workforce, returning to work or upskilling for their current role. It enables learners to build skills across various vocational areas and enhance essential core skills, including career preparation, presentation and teamwork.

Participants must be aged 18 and over, eligible to work in Northern Ireland and members of the neurodiverse community.

This programme will be delivered full-time over 14 days, from Tuesday 18 March to Friday 4 April, 10am-3.30pm.
